Anonymous (Beowulf)
One old book, one long song, and a hero who sailed to fight a monster in the dark.
About
We do not know who wrote Beowulf. The poem survives in a single manuscript, copied around the year 1000 by two scribes whose names are also lost. The story itself is older, passed down by voice long before anyone wrote it down. It was composed in Old English, the language of the Anglo-Saxon peoples who settled in Britain after the Romans left.
